The first Hindi version was close to a "literal translation in the style of the official government glossary," and much of it differed from the words actually used locally.
- Hospital monitor screens in India are in English. Among the materials checked, not a single monitor offered a Hindi screen. The Skanray Star 65 manual has no language menu at all, and its buttons and alarms are in English, such as

Apple, Samsung and the Indian Ministry of Health materials all follow this approach. Heart rate हृदय गति is written in Hindi, but settings सेटिंग · battery बैटरी · alarm अलार्म · calibration कैलिब्रेशन · waveform वेवफ़ॉर्म are English transliterations.
- The gap is largest for engineering and laboratory words. The words used in the first translation — अंशांकित (calibrated) · संश्लेषित (synthesized) · तरंगरूप (waveform) · अनुकूली (adaptive) · अवरक्त (infrared) — appear in the official government glossary (CSTT), but are rarely seen in newspapers, government public materials or device screens. For infrared, newspaper search gives अवरक्त 10 : इंफ्रारेड 48.
- Hindi medical textbooks lean the same way. The Madhya Pradesh Hindi MBBS textbooks (2022~) keep medical terms in English and only write them in Devanagari script (liver, kidney, etc.). At Bhopal medical college, only 85 of 1,000 students chose the Hindi course, and over 3 years no student took exams in Hindi.
